The Wisdom of God is the Cross

1/13/19 1 Corinthians 1:17-2:5

Read this this benediction to the Romans by Paul. Romans 16:25-27 Now to God who is able to strengthen you according to (the) gospel and the proclamation of Jesus Christ, according to the revelation of the mystery that was kept secret for long ages but is now disclosed, and through the prophetic writings is made known to all the Gentiles, according to the command of the eternal God, to bring about the obedience of faith — to the only wise God, through Jesus Christ, to whom be the glory forever! Amen Considering the content of the sermon, what are the various points of the benediction that reinforce the Scripture passage of the sermon? What specific promises are in the benediction that strengthen your faith and resolve?

Read Isaiah 55:6-9 Seek the Lord while he may be found; call upon him while he is near; let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man His thoughts; let him return to the Lord, that He may have compassion on him, and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon.

For My thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways My ways, declares the Lord. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are My ways higher than your ways and My thoughts than your thoughts.

One of the first recorded things Jesus said was, “The time is fulfilled and the kingdom of God is at hand, repent and believe in the gospel” (Mark 1:15) How does this passage, speak to the importance of repentance?

Looking at the Isaiah passage alongside Mark, how would might we define repentance?

Is this how you have typically thought of repentance?
